Dog Training with Rhonda York

All classes require a $35 non-refundable deposit to hold a spot.  The deposit will not be returned or put towards another class if you need to cancel.  Please read through the policies for vaccination requirements.

Canine Good Citizen

The CGC preparation class and evaluation shows that a handler has control over his/her dog and that the dog has good behavior in public.  Dogs in this class should already be comfortable around people and other dogs and know standard obedience cues.   Behaviors include sitting politely for petting, separation from the handler, and waiting patiently while the handler talks to another person.  Testing will occur on the final class.  Cost: $90 for a 4-week session; $20 additional fee for testing.  For more information:

Urban Canine

Dogs must have earned the Canine Good Citizen in order to test for Urban Canine.  Components of the test include skills such as being under control walking in a crosswalk, having many people walking towards the dog without the dog reacting, ability to ride in an elevator or traverse stairs, and leave food and food wrappers alone that are on the sidewalk.  There will be only one preparation class.  Cost: $25; $20 additional testing fee.  For more information: https://www.akc.org/products-services/training-programs/canine-good-citizen/akc-urban-canine-good-citizen/

Trick Dog Novice

AKC’s Trick Dog Novice is an introductory class for beginning tricks and agility.  Dogs need to be dog-friendly as there will be times of being off-leash.  Completion of a beginner level class is required.  The dogs also need to be able to refrain from wanting to play with the other dogs. Trick Dog Intermediate

AKC’s Intermediate Trick Class takes the tricks from the Novice level into a harder level. Dogs need to be dog-friendly as there will be times of being off-leash.  Completion of a beginner level class is required as well as Trick Dog Novice.  The dogs also need to be able to refrain from wanting to play with the other dogs.
